Two-time major champion John Daly has been named the 2026 recipient of the Ambassador of Golf Award, presented by the Northern Ohio Golf Charities & Foundation. Daly, known for his fearless playing style and larger-than-life personality, first captured global attention with his victory at the 1991 PGA Championship as the ninth alternate. He later secured his place among golf’s elite with a win at The Open Championship in 1995 at St Andrews, helping usher in a new era of power in professional golf while building a devoted fan base across the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions.
Beyond his achievements on the course, Daly is recognized for his longstanding commitment to giving back. Throughout his career, he has supported numerous charitable initiatives benefiting children, military families, and individuals facing serious health challenges. The Ambassador of Golf celebration will take place during tournament week in Akron and will help continue the event’s legacy of philanthropy. Over the past four years, the Kaulig Companies Championship and its partners have generated more than $8 million for local nonprofits, contributing to more than $36 million raised through the event’s 73-year history at Firestone Country Club.
